Food and body liberation is an e-mail away! Let’s work together to help you feel fully nourished, competent and at peace with food.
Food and body liberation is an e-mail away! Let’s work together to help you feel fully nourished, competent and at peace with food.
First and foremost, let’s get in touch! Submit an inquiry briefly describing your goals and concerns with food. We will cover some preliminary factors to determine if we will be a good fit, such as current struggles, appropriateness of the outpatient setting, insurance and/or finances, availability, etc. From there we will schedule an initial assessment.
In our first session, we’ll dig into your concerns, relevant medical history, eating patterns, relationship with food and body, and consider where we can start to make shifts in your habits and mindset. Together, we will begin to formulate a game plan to get you closer toward meeting your goals. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a better sense of what working together will look like.
In our follow-up sessions, we will revisit your goals and make adjustments to our plan as necessary. We will continue to identify and work through any barriers or difficulties, and come up with strategies that are both realistic and positive for your life. This work takes practice and patience!
“During the pandemic I got really frustrated with my weight and I asked my doctor for help. He suggested I find a dietitian and since I've never talked to one I assumed the person will help me count calories, restrict my food, prepare weekly menus and things like that. My husband came across Sydney's website and suggested I contact her instead. I didn't know what HAES approach was, I never even heard of it, but I was willing to try.
I was a bit reluctant to sign up because the sessions were virtual and I was afraid we won't be able to form a connection. I was really nervous, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her friendly, smiling face. Sydney calmed me down and gently guided me through the process. Knowing me, I need to be gently handled, because if the subject hits too close to home, or if I start feeling exposed and vulnerable, there is a fine line between me running away and me moving forward. She navigated that perfectly. Not once did I feel judged, quite the contrary. Her warmth and acceptance made me look forward to our sessions and even though we touched hard topics, it never felt like that. It was like a chat between friends.
I admit, I was a bit confused in the beginning and it was hard for me to let go of ideas that have been fundamentally embedded in my brain and behavior. Sydney challenged a lot of things I was thought to believe were true and she shed light on a lot of issues, from healthcare providers, general fatphobia, diet culture. The more I talked to her, the more it made sense and the more I healed. One piece of advice - don't give up after 2 or 3 sessions because you get confused and start doubting everything - it means it's working! :)
Sydney gave me great tools to work with, a lot of great advice and taught me a bunch. I feel better equipped to face challenges, to take care of myself better and to do better. I never thought I could get rid of certain unhealthy patterns, but Sydney helped me to do just that. It's scary to embark on a journey like this, it really is, but having Sydney as a co-pilot and a navigator, it makes it easier. I definitely recommend her services and I am definitely one of her biggest fans. After meeting with her, you will be too. :)”

“I cannot say enough about working with Sydney. She was kind, thoughtful, and professional. She really helped me get started on a journey of intuitive eating and body neutrality. After every session I was bounding with energy and eager to share all that I had learned with my friends and family. If you've struggled with disordered eating and/or are looking for a sustainable, healthy relationship with food, set up a meeting with Sydney. She is amazing!”

“Before working with Sydney I was struggling with body image and binging. While I had already gone through an entire program, Sydney provided me with new strategies, approaches, exercises, and ways of thinking that I hadn’t previously considered. A very simple example was recommending a memoir to read that I found myself relating and connecting to so much. It was small steps and suggestions like these along with the fact that she is so easy to talk and open up to that helped me get through the final stages of my path to recovery and for that I am very grateful.”

“Sydney is the best support you could ask for if you’re recovering from an eating disorder or just want to have a healthier relationship with food. She perfectly balances the science side with the mental/emotional side. She is intuitive and insightful and makes such a welcoming, non judgmental environment. You can see how much she cares, but also how well she really knows her stuff. And she was always prepared with additional resources to help!”

“I started working with Sydney when I knew I really needed help; my body and food felt like a rubic cube I couldn't solve. What I was eating, how much of it, and exercise were overtaking my thoughts. Through Sydney's support and expertise I feel like I am finally come home to myself; after 15 years of having food and movement rule my life. I am learning to listen and to trust my body. I am learning there is so much more presence and joy in life when I am not constantly thinking about food and exercise.”

“My work with Sydney has been so empowering and healing. She encouraged me to reconsider what I thought I knew about health and nutrition. In our time together, she normalized and validated my concerns and worked with me to challenge my unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. She also gave me specific recommendations and activities for challenging myself and achieving my goals of becoming more at peace in my body and developing a more neutral and balanced relationship with food. Most importantly, Sydney always listened to me with warmth and compassion and honored me as a complete person with many goals, skills, needs, and challenges rather than as a patient with a food or body image concern. I cannot recommend Sydney enough!”
